Raymond James staff volunteer for Cares Month

More than 800 financial advisors and associates of Florida financial services firm Raymond James volunteered their time in August for Raymond James Cares Month.

The employees packaged and delivered meals, raised money, sponsored donation drives, worked with support dogs and participated in other activities that amounted to a total of more than 4,000 hours of volunteering for 72 organizations in 62 local communities in 22 states.

These organizations included: Ronald McDonald House, the American Cancer Society, Habitat for Humanity, Make-A-Wish Foundation, Midwest Food Bank, Starkville Bridges Out of Poverty and ZooAtlanta, among others.

“Giving back to the communities in which we live and work is an important part of the mission of Raymond James and has been for all of its 50 years,” said Tash Elwyn, president of Raymond James & Associates Private Client Group, in a statement. “Designating August 2012 as Raymond James Cares Month, in recognition of our 50th Anniversary, is just one more way for us to give back. I am thrilled with this year’s effort and the coming together of all our advisors and associates in their pursuit of helping others.”

Introduced in May 2011 as a pilot program in the Raymond James’ Atlantic Division, the initiative was expanded firmwide this year for the firm’s 50th anniversary.
