Washington State University Vancouver receives $25,000 gift from Opsahl Dawson

Opsahl Dawson, based in Vancouver, Wash., has announced a $25,000 donation to Washington State University Vancouver last week. The firm's gift will be divided between accounting fellowships and sponsorship of WSU Vancouver’s annual Notable Alumni Award for the next five years.

"WSU Vancouver’s accounting program instills a passion for excellence, customer focus and attention to detail in its graduates,” said Aaron Dawson, president of Opsahl Dawson, in a statement. “We are proud to support the university’s work to train the CPAs we need in Southwest Washington. These graduates are the future of our business.”

The firm’s gift goes toward WSU Vancouver’s $20 million goal as part of the Campaign for WSU - a $1 billion fundraising effort to increase support for students, faculty, research and outreach programs to leverage the university’s impact across the state and beyond.

The firm was founded in 1979 by George Opsahl and now employs 17 full-time staff and hires an additional 7 seasonal employees during tax season. Opsahl Dawson serves clients throughout Southwest Washington and Oregon and was recently voted as Best in Business 2 years running by Vancouver Business Journal readers.
