Irvine staff shaves heads for cancer awareness

Sixteen employees of Irvine, Calif.-based accounting firm White Nelson Diehl Evans showed solidarity with family members, friends and coworkers battling cancer by shaving their heads, representing the hair loss many cancer patients experience while undergoing chemotherapy.

In addition to raising awareness, the act is intended to raise funds for cancer research for the St. Baldrick’s Foundation, employee Baru Sanchez explained.

“We’ve all known people who have battled cancer, including members of our White Nelson Diehl Evans family,” Sanchez said in a statement. “We want to raise awareness of the need to support those suffering from cancer, as well as to remind people of the need to continue to search for a cure for the disease.”

Sanchez is joined in the campaign by employees Brian Wilterink, Greg Coleman, Paul Treinen, Sean Thorstenson, Aaron Willis, Kenny Shrainer, Thomas Miyano, Baru Sanchez, Mike Gilgren, Michael Mancini, Aaron Gonzales, Kyle Goetz, Carter Hill, Travis Hersh, Stephen Cahill and Chris Turnbull.

The St. Baldrick’s Foundation raises more for childhood cancer research grants than any other organization, Sanchez stated. “So when I ask for your support, I’m really asking you to support these kids on behalf of all those who’ve struggled with the disease. Thank you!”
