WithumSmith+Brown mobilizes volunteers for Week of Caring

New Jersey-based CPA firm WithumSmith+Brown launched its inaugural Withum Week of Caring by providing more than 400 employee volunteers to help 30 different charitable organizations during the three days before Thanksgiving.

Spanning six states, the accounting staff contributed their time to children’s hospitals, social service organizations, animal shelters and soup kitchens.

"Giving back to our communities is an important part of our firm’s culture," said Bill Hagaman, WS+B's managing partner, in a statement. "Everyone is having a blast this week, and we are so excited to be able to do this, especially during this time of year."

Vicki Beirne, office manager at the firm's New Brunswick office, was one of 14 volunteers who helped cook and serve a Thanksgiving-style dinner to 250 people at Coachmen Family Center in White Plains, N.Y., a nonprofit providing housing and supportive services for low-income families in Westchester County.

"It was hard work, but what an amazing experience," she said in a statement. "It certainly reminds you to be grateful for everything you have."
