Accountant Singers Mark 3rd Anniversary of SEC Report

A group of accountants has decided to celebrate the third anniversary of an SEC Advisory Committee Report on Improvements to Financial Reporting, chaired by Robert Pozen, with a light-hearted tune called, “Hey There, Bob Pozen,” which they filmed in a cute video for YouTube.

The report was issued on Aug. 1, 2008, and coincidentally that was right around the time of Mr. Pozen’s birthday, Aug. 8 (happy birthday!). The song was performed by the Singing CPA, Steven Zelin, and Edith Orenstein, who writes the Financial Executives International blog, where you can read all about the video.

Interestingly, the song is sung to the tune of “Hey There, Delilah" by the Plain White T’s, but it includes lyrics like “Hey there, Bob Pozen, I am worried about convergence and should we move from GAAP to IFRS and a principles-based system,” which probably were not part of the original “Hey There, Delilah.”

Enjoy!
