CCH Sees Big Tax Season

CCH president and CEO Mike Sabbatis said the company transmitted 11 million tax returns to the Internal Revenue Service this year.

During a visit last week to the Accounting Today offices, Sabbatis said the company wasn’t too much affected by the late start of tax season. The company worked with the IRS on optimizing its workflow and that helped reduce the IRS’s rejection rate on returns.

“We had to wait to make a change to how we accepted tax returns,” said Sabbatis. “The moment they said go, we were ready to go.” Last season, he noted, the IRS had also changed its schema behind the scenes, so that also required some tinkering.

The company is moving to make more of its content, like its Master Tax Guide, available on mobile devices. Sabbatis said the company now has 39 titles available for the iPad and other devices.
