A Florida accountant and a stock broker have been arrested and charged with scamming an elderly pair of sisters out of their savings.
Tyrone Javellana, 45, a CPA based in Hallandale, Fla., and financial adviser Cynthia Franke, 48, have been charged with third-degree felonies for persuading the two women, Mary Teris and Josephina Troisi, both in their 90s, to write checks for up to $29,000 for financial planning and consulting services. Many of the checks were processed through the bank accounts of Javellana, Franke and their estate planning group. Estate planning would be a kind term to use for what the pair is accused of doing to the 95- and 93-year-old siblings.
