CPA Firm Sponsors Arena Football Team

January 31, 2011

Brinker Simpson & Co., a Springfield, Pa.-based CPA firm, has signed up to sponsor a local arena football team, the Philadelphia Soul, and help bring arena football back to life.

The Arena Football League shut down after the 2008 season amid financial difficulties and a slew of jokes from NFL fans. However, the league was reincarnated last year, and the Philadelphia Soul, which won its one and only professional championship in that final season, is about to be reborn too, thanks to a CPA firm.

It helps that the firm has provided accounting and tax services for Cosmo and Janet DeNicola, the husband-and-wife technology entrepreneurs who co-own the Philly Soul, according to the Philadelphia Business Journal. Earlier this month, they also bought a stake in J. Mitchell Management, a 25-year-old entertainment management company whose clients include James Gandolfini and Robert Iler of “The Sopranos.”

If Jerry Seinfeld opts to buy a stake in the New York Mets from Fred Wilpon, maybe the Sopranos actors will want to get a piece of the action in an arena football team, plus the services of a certain Philly-area CPA firm.
