Michael Raanan, a former IRS revenue officer who is now president of Landmark Tax Group in Santa Ana., Calif., sent my colleagues here at Accounting Today such a form today, in keeping with the macabre spirit of Halloween.
We have our doubts, though, that the IRS will accept Form 1040 R.I.P. “for filing a return from the grave,” especially in the aftermath of the government shutdown, when they and other federal agencies needed to essentially return from a state of suspended animation.
