McCain Sympathizes with Snooki on Tanning Tax

Sen. John McCain has posted a sympathetic tweet on his Twitter account in response to a lament from one of the stars of the MTV series, “Jersey Shore,” about the new indoor tanning tax.

The health care reform bill includes a 10 percent tax on indoor tanning bed services, which prompted Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi to complain during a preview for the show’s second season, “I don’t go tanning anymore because Obama put a 10 percent tax on tanning, and I feel like he did that intentionally for us.”

Polizzi also praised Obama’s former campaign rival, McCain, saying, “McCain would never put a 10 percent tax on tanning because he’s pale and he would probably want to be tan.” She seemed unaware that McCain has undergone surgery for melanoma on his face.

McCain, however, responded with a message of encouragement to Snooki, writing on his Twitter page, “"u r right, I would never tax your tanning bed! Pres Obama's tax/spend policy is quite The Situation. but I do rec wearing sunscreen!"

McCain was referring to Snooki’s “Jersey Shore” castmate Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino.
