Pepcom Showcases Digital Experience

Technology and consumer electronics vendors showed off some of their latest wares at last week’s Digital Experience mini trade show in New York.

Among the products on hand were Fiserv’s Popmoney mobile payment technology. Users can send money directly from a U.S. bank account to a recipient’s bank account by using their name and email address or mobile phone number. U.S. Bancorp has become the first large bank to support the technology, though the company says it’s also currently available at more than 2,000 banks and credit unions.

Computer maker Lenovo showed off several of its latest notebooks and tablets at the event. They included the ThinkPad 10, a Windows 8.1 computer that can function as both a laptop and a tablet. Another flexible device is the ThinkPad 11e Chromebook Yoga, which supports Google’s ChromeOS.

Samsung featured a number of its own portable Chrome and Windows computers as well, including the Samsung Chromebook 2 Series and the Samsung Book 9 2014 Edition. Samsung also exhibited one of its latest high-definition TVs, with a curved screen that makes for an eye-popping display.

Visme featured a cloud-based app that allows users to quickly generate infographics and presentations, including text, video, audio and images through a drag-and-drop interface. The service has signed up more than 50,000 registered users after launching in the middle of last year.

Republic Wireless was there to talk about its fixed-rate, no contract mobile phone plans featuring Moto X smartphones.

magicJack VocalTec featured the magicJackGo plug-in device and magicApp mobile app for making unlimited local and long-distance calls.

On the fun side, Blue Goji displayed its exercise technology, which turns existing stationary bikes and elliptical machines into video game machines to make workouts more enjoyable.
