David Burns has joined BDO Capital Advisors LLC, the investment banking unit of BDO USA LLP, as managing director. Burns will work in the firm’s New York office. 

Burns has more than 15 years of experience assisting middle market clients with financial restructuring, special situations mergers and acquisitions and cross-border deals. 

He’s worked with publicly-traded and privately-held businesses, equity sponsors, court-appointed fiduciaries and government agencies. He also advised on transactions within the packaging, building materials, auto, transportation, consumer products, business services, specialty finance and basic manufacturing industries.    

Prior to BDO Capital, Burns was a principal at the financial advisory firm Skatoff & Company LLC. His career path also led him work at a number of investment banking firms, including Greenhill & Company, Merrill Lynch & Co., Houlihan Lokey. Before making the move into investment banking, Burns practiced bankruptcy and business reorganization law at LeBoeuf, Lamb, Greene & MacRae.
