Citrin Cooperman Hires Gadant as Partner

Sylvie Gadant has joined Citrin Cooperman as partner.

Gadant will work closely with the firm’s Private Equity Initiative and numerous industry groups to lead the Transaction Advisory Services practice and provide a wealth of resources assisting buyers, lenders, and sellers involved in mergers or acquisitions.

“I am extremely pleased to be joining Citrin Cooperman, particularly as we continue to see greater deal flow across several industries,” Gadant said in a statement. “I am confident that our team is very well-positioned to service all of our clients’ needs as more money from private equity groups enters the marketplace and companies consider executing an exit or a capital raise.”

Prior to Citrin Cooperman, Gadant was the principal-in-charge of the Transaction Advisory Services practice at Rothstein Kass, which recently merged with KPMG. In this role, Gadant led private equity firms and other strategic buyers through complex due diligence engagements while counseling others on their M&A strategies and a variety of technical accounting and reporting issues. Gadant and her team have advised clients on over 150 transactions valued between $5 million and $300 million, including platform investments, add-on acquisitions, leveraged recapitalizations, carve-outs, and minority investments.

“Sylvie is a seasoned professional with the specific skills that many of our current clients need and future clients will demand,” Managing Partner at Citrin Cooperman managing partner Joel Cooperman said in a statement. “We are excited to have Sylvie and her team joins our Transaction Advisory Services practice as the firm sees continued growth in this area.”

In 2013, Gadant received the “40 under 40” award from M&A Advisor, which recognizes emerging leaders in the M&A, financing and turnaround industries. She is also an active member of the Association for Corporate Growth, and she was selected as a judge for the 2014 ACG-New York Champion's M&A Awards. A French native, she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the Graduate School of Business in Bordeaux, France. She is also a Certified Public Accountant in the States of New York and New Jersey.

Citrin also added Marilyn Garcia and Brendan Roberts to the team as Transaction Advisory Services managers in the Los Angeles and Charlotte, NC offices, respectively.

Roberts, who is also a CPA, has more than eight years of accounting and advisory experience, both in public and private, including two years with a $27 billion private equity firm. As a manager in the TAS practice, he will be responsible for working directly with financial sponsors and strategic buyers to cover all aspects of the financial due diligence process. Prior to joining Citrin Cooperman, Roberts was a manager with the Transaction Advisory Services practice at Rothstein Kass.

Garcia will provide buy-side and sell-side financial due diligence services to financial sponsors and strategic buyers. Prior to joining Citrin Cooperman, Garcia was a senior analyst with the Transaction Advisory Service practice at Rothstein Kass. Garcia also worked closely with buyers and sellers involved in cross-border transactions, especially with companies based in South America and the Caribbean Islands.

“We are thrilled to welcome Sylvie, Brendan and Marilyn to our team,” added Pat Cummings, partner and private equity practice leader at Citrin Cooperman. “In the next 12 to 18 months, we expect M&A activity to increase and become even more competitive. Companies need to have highly skilled advisors that are capable of helping them compete in this marketplace. In Sylvie, Brendan and Marilyn, we believe we have found the right mix of experience and technical ability that will continue to make our practice excel.”
