Cost accounting provides tools that can be utilized in a variety of ways. Cost accountants have become internal consultants for managers throughout all businesses, whether they be in manufacturing or a service industry. This live audio conference will demonstrate how budgets are not only a planning device and a communication tool, but how they are used to influence behavior. A GROW analysis will be introduced and explained as a tool for planning. The GROW analysis is twofold. It initially serves to identify a direction for the user(s) and down the road it is used for feedback regarding decisions made and actions taken and to then determine further actions. Finally the balanced scorecard (BSC) is discussed as a means of measuring the success/changes to specific selected goals. The BSC is especially beneficial as it provides an in depth view of the selected areas from other than the usual financial only focus.
