Washington, D.C. (April 28, 2011)

Being an expert witness requires CPAs to provide testimony that’s based on more than just their financial experience or technical accounting proficiency.

They must be able to articulate their position, be convincing, deliver an independent opinion that withstands scrutiny under cross examination, and gain acceptance by the court. The AICPA’s new Expert Witness Skills Workshop will provide attendees with a real-life courtroom environment to practice their skills and be critiqued. Judges, experts and attorneys from a broad range of disciplines will be on hand to provide guidance and advice. The workshop will be filled with Q&As, in-depth discussions and interactive demonstrations.

This forum will cover:
•  Trial communications presentation by expert rrial consultant;
•  Video review and critique;
•  Demonstrations and practice time; and
•  Mock trial.

The workshop targets CPAs with basic forensic accounting or valuation skills looking to become an expert witness or to advance their skills beyond

technical aspects of preparing a damages or valuation report.

The conference will be held April 28-30 at the Georgetown University Hotel and Conference Center in Washington, DC.
