Wealth Magnets: Intro

Success may come in many forms, and from many formulas, but for the Wealth Magnets, it has definitely come. Almost all reported increases in assets under management this past year, and are busy sharpening their individual formulas to ensure their ongoing success. Here are the top 10 CPA firms in Accounting Today's annual Wealth Magnets list of the Top Firms by AUM.

1. Plante Moran Financial Advisors

Plante Moran Financial Advisors, based in Southfield, Mich., was far out ahead of the pack in the Billion Dollar Club. The firm reported over $6.7 billion in AUM. The financial advisory unit of Plante Moran has 15 offices and a staff of 105, under the direction of president Robert Palmer.

2. myCIO Wealth Partners

Philadelphia-based myCIO Wealth Partners landed in the No. 2 slot in the rankings, with over $5.3 billion in AUM. The firm has just one office with 27 staff members, managed by founding partner David Lees.

3. Joel Isaacson & Co.

The Big Apple has been good to New York City-based Joel Isaacson & Co., which landed in the No. 3 slot of the Billion Dollar Club, with $3.948 billion in AUM. The firm has one office, managed by its namesake CEO.

4. RSM McGladrey

Minneapolis-based McGladrey ranked close behind Joel Isaacson & Co., with $3.942 billion in AUM. The firm's wealth management practice has many more offices, though: 27 of them, with 72 staff under managing director of wealth management Randy Matz.

5. Wipfli

Wipfli, based in Milwaukee, ranked No. 5 in the Billion Dollar Club, with over $2.35 billion in AUM. The firm has 20 offices and 873 staff, helmed by managing partner Rick Dreher.

6. Savant Capital Management

There must be a lot of smart people at Savant Capital Management. The Rockford, Ill.-based firm ranked in sixth place among this year's crop of wealth magnets, with $1.948 billion in AUM. The firm has seven offices and 70 staff, managed by CEO Brent Brodeski.

7. LarsonAllen Financial

Minneapolis-based LarsonAllen Financial ranked in seventh place in the Billion Dollar Club of Wealth Magnets, with $1.9 billion in AUM. The financial unit has seven offices with 47 staff, managed by principal-in-charge Tony Hallada.

8. BKD Wealth Advisors

BKD Wealth Advisors took the No. 8 slot in the Billion Dollar Club, with $1.84 billion. The Springfield, Mo.-based wealth management unit has four offices and 36 staff, under the direction of president Jack Thurman.

9. HbK Sorce Financial

HbK Sorce Financial grabbed ninth place on our Wealth Magnets list, with over $1.4 billion in AUM. The Erie, Pa.-based firm has nine offices and 51 staff, headed by CEO Christopher Allegretti.

10. SignatureFD

Atlanta-based SignatureFD signed up for over $1.3 billion in AUM, putting the firm in 10th place. The firm has two offices and 25 staff, headed by managing director Jeffrey Peller.
