Haskell & White, Irvine, was recognized with an Ambassador to the Children award by Kids Konnected at its annual gala for supporting the nonprofit, which connects youths and families that have been afflicted by cancer in order to build a support structure through shared experiences. The award was presented to the firm at the Kids Konnected annual gala on Oct. 21 at the Plaza de Magdalena in San Juan Capistrano.

BPM, San Francisco, was named one of the 2017 Healthiest Companies for six consecutive years by the North Bay Business Journal.

More than two dozen employee volunteers and family members of Blum Shapiro, West Hartford, helped package more than 1,200 bags of donated non-perishable Thanksgiving food items to distribute to seniors and families in New Haven served by Christian Community Action as part of the sixth annual BlumShapiro Food Basket Campaign for Christian Community Action.

Crowe Horwath, Chicago, launched an enhanced tax service delivery platform, Crowe Tax Connect, an integrated software platform to improve the tax process for clients.

Andersen Tax & Legal, the Italian member firm of international association Andersen Global, will be expanding to Venice-Mestre, and the Milan office will be relocating within Milan.

AAFCPAs, Boston, participated in Giving Tuesday Nov. 28, by matching employee contributions to nonprofit organizations one-to-one; hosting a donation drive for Boston area children; and creating a “Giving Tree” wall display to encourage individual donations. (Read the full story.)

MINNESOTA

Moore Stephens North America has partnered with the Center for Character-based Leadership and LVG Advisors to provide leadership training for member firms. The Leadership Growth Academy launched in November to provide training and resources for soon-to-be or recently named partners, featuring four two-day sessions on leadership, business development, coaching and mentor support.

Sax, Clifton, announced the first Founder’s Award, a $15,000 unrestricted gift to a not-for-profit organization in the New Jersey/New York City metro area that can demonstrate their efforts towards obtaining sustainability. Hosted by SAX’s nonprofit practice, the Founder’s Award was conceptualized in honor of Sax founders Sander Sax, Morris Macy and Egon Fromm. Applicants for the Founder’s Award are required to submit either an essay or non-professional video to demonstrate how their organization has become sustainable, or ideas and measures they plan to implement to obtain sustainability. NEW YORK

The American Institute of CPAs announced the three high school student winners of its interactive online game Bank On It, which challenges students’ knowledge of accounting fundamentals and offers them real-world work scenarios. The three winners were Joseph DiBetetto from New York, Eric Jimenez from Florida and Bryson Lyons from Idaho. (Read the full story.)

UHY, New York, announced a $25,000 sponsorship of the Double H Ranch in Lake Luzerne, a global, philanthropic program providing for more than 60,000 children with life-threatening illnesses. The sponsorship program is intended to create more awareness, donations and volunteer support for the “Mission Awareness” campaign for the Double H Ranch, which is one hour north of UHY’s Albany office. On Dec. 22 from 7-8 p.m. ET, CBS 6 will air a 60-minute documentary on the Double H Ranch on both CBS and CW 15, with several “telethon breaks” for viewers to make a donation. As a sponsor, UHY will have a 30 second vignette airing at different times during the program schedule. (Read the full story.)

CohnReznick, New York, released a survey of 217 senior-level executives from various industries in the U.S. about “organizational chaos,” finding that it exists in 64 percent of those companies, but that they have no plan outlined to eliminate it. Meanwhile, 70.5 percent of respondents are prevented from solving the chaos due to time constraints. In other firm news, CohnReznick joined OSCRE (the Open Standards Cosortium for Real Estate) as an executive-level member. OSCRE International is focused on the development and implementation of standards that address the needs of corporate and investment real estate, effective data governance practices, and emerging technologies in the real estate business.

Chartered Accountants Group, Muscat, has joined HLB International as a member firm of the global accountancy network.

PENNSYLVANIA

Team members of Baker Tilly Vircho Krause, York, participated in YWCA York’s “Walk a Mile in Her Shoes” event, where men and women take part in a mile-long walk in women’s high heels to take a stand against domestic violence, sexual assault and other related crimes. Proceeds from the event support victim services and advance the organization’s mission to end gender-based violence by raising awareness of the issue and educating members of the local community. Manager Matt Grove served as the firm’s team captain with support from business development director Cathy Grove, who is also a board member of YWCA York.

TURKEY

NAZALI Tax & Legal, Instanbul, Ankara, Izmir and Bursa, will officially adopt the Andersen name in January 2018, becoming a full-fledged member firm of international association Andersen Global.

UGANDA

Ligomarc Advocates entered a collaboration agreement with Andersen Global, becoming the international association’s fourth location in Africa.

UNITED KINGDOM

Receipt Bank, London, was named the seventh fastest growing technology business in the U.K. at the Deloitte UK Fast 50 awards, ranking companies by their year-on-year growth rate over the last four years.

The International Federation of Accountants, London, announced three new board members were elected, and that it admitted two member organizations and one associate organization. The new board members are: Asmâa Resmouki, Morocco, nominated by Ordre Des Experts Comptables; ElbanoDe Nuccio, Italy, nominated by Consiglio Nazionale Dei Dottori Commercialisti Degli Esperti Contabili; and YacoobSuttar, Pakistan, nominated by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan. The two existing IFAC associates admitted as members were the Association of Accounting Technicians of Sri Lanka, sponsored by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka, and the Institute of Certified Accountants of Montenegro, sponsored by the Slovenian Institute of Auditors. Additionally, admitted as an IFAC associate was the Lithuanian Association of Accountants and Auditors, sponsored by the Lithuanian Chamber of Auditors.
