Lindquist, San Ramon, received Inavero’s Best of Accounting Award for superior service to clients, given to industry leaders that have demonstrated service quality based on client ratings.

Armanino, San Ramon, was named to the 2017-18 Inner Circle for Microsoft Dynamics, recognizing resellers of the Dynamics solutions that perform to a high standard of excellence.

Spiegel Accountancy Corp., Pleasant Hill, formed a professional alliance with 5X Solutions, a mortgage research and data analytics technology company, combining the firm’s accounting services with 5X’s flagship business intelligence product, Telemetry MBI, to offer mortgage lenders financial solutions for optimized performance.

EKS&H, Denver and San Francisco, has joined PKF International as a member firm of the global network.

IDAHO

Frazer LLP, Visalia, Calif., is opening an office in Twin Falls, Idaho. Pete Jones has joined the firm as a senior manager and will be responsible for daily operations.

ILLINOIS

Bass, Solomon & Dowell, Palatine, announced it will change its name to Dowell Group and launch a new website at www.dowellcpa.com. The name change comes after 25 years in business and reflects the firm’s mission to provide more strategic and consultative client services.

IRELAND

CPA Ireland, Dublin, agreed to a permanent collaboration with the Institute of Incorporated Public Accountants, which means the IIPA will cease to operate as a recognized accountancy body from September and CPA Ireland (also known as the Institute of CPAs) will will service, support and regulate IIPA members who choose to transfer to CPA Ireland, from Sept. 1, 2017. The memberships of both bodies voted in favor of the collaboration. (Read the full story.)

MISSOURI

Anders CPAs + Advisors’ Young Professionals group hosted a firmwide “Christmas in July” toy drive for the firm’s 2017 Charity of Choice, Shriners Hospital for Children – St. Louis. A Christmas tree was set up in the office holding ornaments with a desired toy or item written on each, which employees could choose from and then deliver that desired item under the tree. At Shriners, children receive a blanket and toy matching their personality or interests after every surgical procedure. Anders employees made 53 hand-made tie blankets to accompany the more than 200 toys, books and games donated to the children. (Read the full story.)

NEW JERSEY

Sax LLP’s charitable arm, The Sax Charitable Foundation, Clifton, will present the sixth annual 4 Miler at Garret Mountain September 16 in Woodland Park. The run and walk event benefits the Child Life Department at St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital in Paterson, which depends solely on private funding to support the children’s quality-of-life programs that help decrease the stress and anxiety caused by illness and hospitalization. Since it began in 2012, the 4 Miler has raised nearly $300,000 for the Child Life Department, and last year had 350 participants who raised $60,000.

The Public Company Accounting Oversight Board announced the 167 recipients of $10,000 merit-based scholarships aimed at encouraging students to pursue careers in audit. This is the seventh year the PCAOB has funded the scholarships. Details of the scholarship program, and a list of 167 schools where the 2017-18 recipients are students, can be found here.
