BDO Beefs up in Boston

Boston (Oct. 30, 2002) -- BDO Seidman, ranked eighth on Accounting Today's Top 100 firms list with $420 million in 2001 revenue, is expanding its Boston area presence by adding 33 shareholders, professionals and support staff from the Canby Maloney & Co. CPA firm in that city.

The addition, slated to take effect Nov.1, increases BDO's Boston area presence to 93 partners, professionals and staff. The Chicago-based global CPA firm also plans to open an office in nearby Framingham, Mass. on Nov. 1.

Canby Financial Advisors, LCC, which is affiliated with Canby Maloney, will remain a separate entity and continue to operate from its Framingham office.

"Combining with BDO Seidman is a natural fit and will allow us to offer our clients a wider array of services, including Securities and Exchange Commission and initial public offering representation, litigation support, business valuation and technology services, " said Canby Maloney president Richard Maloney. "Our clients will also benefit from the expanded geographic coverage, industry experience and additional resources BDO Seidman provides."

Canby Maloney's client base is particularly strong in the manufacturing, distribution and services industries, BDO said.
