Intuit Upgrades Online Payroll

Intuit has integrated the latest version of its Intuit Online Payroll software with its QuickBooks accounting software.

Accountants will be able to import their clients’ payroll data from the Web-based payroll service into their QuickBooks desktop software. A new E-Pay feature also lets small businesses pay their federal taxes and select state taxes at no extra cost.

Intuit has also redesigned how alerts are displayed on the payroll Web page. The calendar shows what has to be done and when. Users can also decide who should receive the alert e-mails. “You can designate reminders about each set of folks,” said group product manager Miriam Vu. “Previously you could only have one e-mail recipient for all of the alerts.”

Intuit Online Payroll provides an alternative to the payroll application that comes built into QuickBooks. The online application is more geared toward remote access, allowing accountants to remotely transfer client payroll information into QuickBooks.

Intuit Online Payroll costs $29.95 per month. For more information, visit www.intuitonlinepayroll.com.
