AAM to Hire First CEO

The Association for Accounting Marketing will be hiring its first chief executive officer, representing the first staff hire for the national trade association.

Since its founding in 1989, AAM has been supported by association management companies or volunteers in its mission to promote excellence and elevate the professional stature of marketing, business development and other practice growth professionals within the accounting profession.

“Our association is at a pivotal point,” said AAM president Katie Tolin, who is also director of practice growth at Rea & Associates in New Philadelphia, Ohio. “An experienced and reputable CEO will provide a consistent level of leadership for the organization, and essentially serve as the ‘face’ of AAM to further establish the visibility we need to advance the profession.”

AAM has created a task force to identify, interview and select candidates for this position, which will be supported by an association management company that will work closely with the chosen CEO to provide operational support.

Tolin and the AAM board of directors outlined the benefits they believe the future CEO will provide to its more than 700 members:

• Knowledge of the responsibilities and obstacles faced by accounting marketers;
• Leadership to educate the accounting industry about the value of marketers; and,

• The ability to help marketers grow and heighten their awareness of cutting-edge opportunities to help lead their firms to future success.

The full CEO job description and submission information is available on AAM’s Web site.

“We are determined to find the ideal candidate and will take the time needed to identify someone with a strong presence in the accounting marketing industry and the skill set to run an association,” said Tolin. “This person will emerge as a powerful advocate for our members.”
