ADP Streamlines Work Opportunity Tax Credit Claims

ADP is enhancing its ADP Tax Credits software to help companies capture Work Opportunity Tax Credits for hiring employees.

Two new enhancements for ADP Tax Credits, secure document submission and voice signature, promise to provide new ways to help companies reduce back-and-forth communication with employees, increase security and accelerate the screening and claim-processing timeline. The new capabilities are intended to simplify WOTC administration to allow companies to meet Internal Revenue Service deadlines more readily.

The Secure Document Submission feature allows companies to upload required forms for the WOTC to ADP’s secure online portal to enhance the security of their WOTC documentation process. Employers previously provided the forms and documentation via mail, fax or email. The new voice signature feature allows employees to “sign” forms over the phone in a single phone call, streamlining the WOTC call-in screening and verification process by reducing the need to capture physical signatures on forms and mail, fax or email documents. Voice signature adds to the current signature options, which include Internet-based electronic signature, fax and email forms delivery, and hard copy mailings.

“The WOTC employee administration process can be complicated and labor intensive, particularly when done manually or using traditional methods,” said ADP Tax Credits senior division vice president and general manager Jim Brown in a statement. “The level of detail and documentation required can make it difficult for companies to submit the necessary documents within the 28-day window required by the IRS. By streamlining the entire process, these new capabilities make it easy for companies to efficiently capture and realize the WOTC credits they’re eligible for—all while helping to maintain compliance with new and changing regulations.”

ADP Tax Credits is a component of the recently released ADP SmartCompliance system, which helps midsize and large businesses manage employment-related tax and payment compliance.
