AICPA Offers Mobile Apps

The American Institute of CPAs has introduced a mobile app to help CPA Exam candidates prepare for the Uniform CPA Exam.

The free app acts as an extension of the “Prepare for the Exam” section of the AICPA’s ThisWayToCPA.com site. The app is available for both Apple and Android devices and syncs up with the user’s This Way To CPA account. It includes a customizable personal timeline, tips and a link to This Way To CPA’s online forum, so exam-related questions can be posed to a 30,000-member community.

“We developed the CPA Exam Aid with the idea of making it as easy as possible for candidates to get the info they need to plan for the exam, get certified and begin their careers,” said AICPA senior manager of college and university initiatives Scott Moore. “The exam is very challenging, but we’ve made managing your study time a lot easier.”

In addition, the AICPA introduced an iPad app on Tuesday for its Journal of Accountancy publication, along with a mobile friendly interface to its AICPA Online Store. Visitors who use an iPhone or Android device to access the online store are now automatically redirected to a mobile version of cpa2biz.com that has an elegant, streamlined interface. Customers can browse by product type or topic, employ search filters, and read popular articles from weekly newsletters. Ordering products is also simplified, and users can track purchases through their phones.

The apps and mobile-friendly site were created by CPA2Biz, the technology subsidiary of the AICPA. The unit’s development team, based in Silicon Valley, has been retooled recently to focus more deeply on app creation and other innovative mobile tools to meet the expanding needs of the profession in this area.
