CCH Small Firm Services has wrapped up its inaugural user conference, with more than 150 attendees spending two days focusing on the ways that changes in laws, professional requirements and technology are impacting tax and accounting.

Rusty Tillman, CCH SFS vice president, noted that “abstract” talk about changes in technology impacting the industry moves quickly “to real-world challenges when you can sit with your customers and have extended discussions about the day-to-day realities of the changes.”

CCH SFS president Jeff Gramlich set the theme for the conference at the opening session: changes in the tax and accounting field over the years, and a focus on ways firms could make themselves “future ready.”

“You have to embrace, accept and adopt the changes that are on the horizon, some of which will make perfect sense to you and some of which you can’t even conceive of today,” he said.

Attendee feedback, according to CCH, was positive. CCH SFS will announce the location of next year’s user conference in the first quarter of 2013; the conference will be in the fall.
