CPA2Biz and XCM Solutions Form Strategic Alliance

New York (May 6, 2010)

By Seth Fineberg

CPA2Biz, the marketing arm of the American Institute of CPAs’ products and services, added Web-based accounting workflow management solution provider XCM Solutions to its Trusted Business Advisor Solutions program, which also includes Bill.com, Copanion, Intacct and Paychex.

The announcement was made Thursday at the 2010 Accounting Technology New York show. Designed by CPAs for the CPA profession, XCM automates and standardizes processes for completing work throughout the firm and in all departments, including audit, tax, consulting and human resources.

One of the primary goals in adding XCM is to integrate its workflow technologies and expertise into the existing group of solution providers, according to CPA2Biz chief executive Erik Asgeirsson. “In the CPA profession, you always need to think about workflow,” he said. “XCM helps solve the workflow management issues with tax and accounting, and truly helps build business intelligence [for firms]. All of the other solutions [in the Trusted Business Advisor Solutions platform] are great at what they do; XCM now helps bring it all together. They are the missing component.”

Asgeirsson added that the Advisor Solutions platform is “not a suite play,” and the ultimate goal is to continue to provide recommendations of “best of breed” solutions so CPAs can decide what is best for them to use.

For XCM, the partnership means more than integration with the other Advisor Solutions. It also includes access to useful AICPA content for consulting purposes.

“There is a certain amount of consulting that you have to do when using a new technology, especially when it comes to [business intelligence] and workflow management,” said XCM CEO Mark Albrecht. “We can help do valuable consulting with the content that the AICPA has, from all of the ‘how to’ info they have to feedback from accounting firms around the country stating what their issues are. The biggest problem for most CPA firms is that they are responsible for 300-plus things during most of the year and they can’t always get their arms around everything a client needs. With XCM, that information will be at their fingertips.”
