GASB Launches New Website

The Governmental Accounting Standards Board launched an updated website Monday that includes more user-friendly navigation and “plain English” resources covering accounting and financial reporting issues for state and local governments.

As the primary source of news and information about the GASB, the redesigned www.gasb.org follows the recent launch of new Financial Accounting Foundation and Financial Accounting Standards Board websites and branding. It includes videos and content directed to users both familiar and new to the GASB’s activities, with current featured updates on: GASB’s new pension standards, due process documents currently out for comment, and the new online Governmental Accounting Research System.

Additionally, the site has an interactive timeline telling the story of the GASB, FAF and the FASB through photos, videos and quotes from the past 40 years.

“The new GASB website allows visitors to easily find what they need to know about the Board and the role it has in establishing accounting and financial reporting standards,” said GASB Chairman David A. Vaudt in a statement. “The site was designed to help stakeholders broaden their knowledge and expertise, and to weigh in on the GASB’s standards-setting activities.”

The new website was designed by Stamford, Conn.-based Ball & Chain, LLC.
