A Chicago man almost lost out on claiming a $9 million Lotto jackpot, but found the winning ticket just in time while he was going through his tax records.

Irving Przyborski bought the winning lottery ticket a year ago, but found the ticket last Thursday in a folder where he kept his tax records. It was due to expire at the end of the day, but he was able to claim his winnings just in the nick of time, according to the local CBS news radio station, WBBM

The ticket apparently fell into the tax file by mistake a year ago, and Przyborski didn’t see it until he decided to do his taxes last week. He brought the ticket to the local 7-Eleven, where a store clerk examined the numbers, and told Przyborski that he had a winning ticket. Przyborski has decided to claim the lump sum prize.
