Microsoft said it plans to officially release Microsoft Dynamics GP 2010 on May 1, adding enhanced business intelligence functions to the latest version of one of its top enterprise resource planning systems.

Microsoft Dynamics GP 2010 will contain more than 400 built-in Microsoft SQL Server reporting services and Microsoft Excel reports, along with enhanced interoperability with Microsoft SharePoint and new tools such as PowerPivot for Excel 2010. It will also allow for easier drill-down to key client information, which is essential for effective business intelligence, according to Errol Schoenfish, director of product management for Dynamics GP.

“In our research, providing [client and customer] information is one of the key reasons people using ERP solutions go from a smaller solution to Dynamics GP,” he said. “We made it easier to interact with, and added enhanced workflow capabilities. For example, if you have a workflow around adding a vendor to ERP, instead of doing a background check through the Better Business Bureau, now you can do that right from Dynamics GP.”
Dynamics GP 2010 also integrates with Microsoft’s online CRM product and Microsoft Word, with the ability to create Word forms such as customized invoices and send them via e-mail from within Dynamics GP 2010.
