The IRS said on Tuesday that its PTIN system is unavailable due to Hurricane Sandy. The IRS Return Preparer Office also announced that it's postponing tests and the RTRP Webinar scheduled for October 31 due to the storm.

"Hurricane Sandy is affecting certain RTRP/SEE test operations today," the RPO stated on its Facebook page. "The call center operated by test vendor Prometric Inc. is closed. If you live in an affected area and had a test scheduled for today, Prometric will be contacting you via e-mail with information about rescheduling."

"The Wednesday (Oct. 31) webinar about the RTRP test is being postponed. New date is TBD. Our apologies!" the RPO added.
