CALIFORNIA

Wayne Pinnell, managing partner at Haskell & White LLP, has joined the Steering Committee of the OC Tech Alliance, a newly formed trade association focused on fostering innovation and growth among Orange County’s technology community. The Alliance features members from the county’s leading technology companies, in addition to various service companies and vendors that support them.

ILLINOIS

Todd Welu has joined Crowe Horwath LLP, Chicago, as the firm’s chief financial officer. Welu, who leads and manages Crowe’s financial services group, is based in the firm’s Oak Brook, Ill. office. Prior to joining Crowe Horwath, Welu was the CFO of Westchester Group Investment Management Inc., in Champaign, Ill. Prior to that, he was CFO/COO of the Americas Executive Search Practice at Heidrick & Struggles. … Naveed Jiwani has joined SS&G Inc., Skokie, as a senior associate in the tax department. Prior to SS&G, Jiwani worked as a senior associate at Frost, Ruttenberg, & Rothblatt PC. He earned a Bachelor of Science in accounting and finance from DePaul University.

IOWA

Marvin Debner has joined BKD LLP, Des Moines, as tax partner and will lead the Iowa practice. Prior to BKD, Debner worked as a managing partner at LWBJ.

KENTUCKY

Lisa Brann has joined SS&G Inc., as a manager in the entrepreneurial services department. Prior to SS&G, Brann owned her own firm. She holds an advanced certification in QuickBooks and received a Bachelor of Science in accountancy from Northern Kentucky University.

MASSACHUSETTS

Catherine Curry has joined Meyers Brothers Kalicka, Holyoke. Curry has more than 20 years of accounting experience and is specialized in tax preparation and planning for a variety of industries, including restaurant, wholesale and manufacturing. Prior to MBK, Curry worked at Owens & Company LLC for 16 years. … Theodore Flynn, president and CEO of the Massachusetts Society of CPAs announced that he will retire at the end of 2013, ending a 43-year career at the helm of the state’s leading professional organization for more than 11,000 CPAs and accounting professionals in Massachusetts.

NEW YORK

Bill Riley, who is a partner at CohnReznick LLP, has relocated to New York City to lead the firm’s Northeast Region Affordable Housing Practice. … Greg Cudahy has joined Ernst & Young LLP, New York, where he will lead the advisory services performance improvement group. Cudahy will oversee the firm's client work and service offerings related to supply chain, finance, customer, transformation and collaboration, and performance technology and will coordinate such services across North America, South America, and Israel for the global Ernst & Young organization. Prior to Ernst & Young, Cudahy worked as the practice leader for the North American Operations at Accenture.

 

NORTH CAROLINA

Dave Wedding has been elected to Grant Thornton LLP partnership board as chairman. Wedding, who currently serves as managing partner in the firm’s Carolinas practice office, succeeds Jack Katz, who had served as chairman since December 2006 and continues to serve as the Northeast region’s managing partner, New York Cluster managing partner and national Financial Services managing partner.

OHIO

Michael May, has joined SS&G Inc., as a senior associate in the tax department. Prior to SS&G May worked at Deloitte LLP as a tax manager. May graduated from the University of Cincinnati College of Law and earned a Bachelor of Science in mathematics and education from Kent State University. Matthew Morel joined the firm as a manager in the tax department. He previously worked at Plante Moran where he was a senior tax manager. Morel earned a Master of Business Administration and a Bachelor of Science in accountancy from the University of Dayton.

TENNESSEE

Briana Mullenax, senior manager in the tax services practice of Lattimore Black Morgan & Cain PC, Nashville, has been added to Nashville Business Journal’s 2013 class of 40 under 40.

TEXAS

Eric Dulany has been named the leader of BKD LLP’s energy practice. Dulany initially joined the firm’s Houston office in September. …Ana Ahmed has joined the staff of Karlins, Ramey & Tompkins,The Woodlands.
