COLORADO

Bud Hollenkamp has been promoted to senior manager at BKD LLP, Denver, while Brian Beiser and Heidi Haugen were promoted to manager.

FLORIDA

Karen Mosteller, a partner at Markham Norton Mosteller Wright & Company PA, Ft. Myers, has received the Florida Institute of CPAs Women to Watch - Experienced Leadership Award. The award, which is given in conjunction with the AICPAs, recognizes outstanding women who are shaping the FICPA and the CPA profession. The institute tapped Kenneth Strauss, who is the director of taxation and personal financial strategies for Berkowitz Pollack Brant Advisors and Accountants, as chairman of the board.

ILLINOIS

BDO USA LLP, Chicago, admitted 16 new partners throughout the firm's locations. Alexander Maraval joins as an associate in the firm's assurance department. … Charles Jesser was elected to the board of directors of the Union League Club of Chicago at the 134-year-old non-partisan, civic, cultural and philanthropic organization’s recent annual meeting. 

LOUISIANA

Joseph Richard, a partner in Hannis T. Bourgeois LLP CPAs, Baton Rouge, was selected to receive Society of Louisiana CPA's Lifetime Membership Award to recognize his more than 20 years of continued service to LCPA's Financial Institution and Annual Convention committees. Austin Robertson, a counsel at the CPA firm Cole, Evans & Peterson in Shreveport, was presented with the Distinguished Service Award for his outstanding, long-term commitment to the CPA profession. Alfred Stacey, a director of tax services at Bourgeois Bennett in New Orleans, was named 2013 Outstanding Continuing Professional Education Discussion Leader. This award is presented annually to a Louisiana discussion leader based on number of hours taught, evaluations of participants, and overall quality of courses. He is Director of Tax Services for Bourgeois Bennett's New Orleans office. Brian Stagg, director at Postlethwaite & Netterville, was the recipient of LCPA's Distinguished Public Service Award. On monthly basis he gives 30 hours of his time to numerous organizations, including the Greater Baton Rouge Literacy Coalition, Salvation Army of Greater Baton Rouge, Rotary Club of Baton Rouge and Connections for Life. Stagg will now be nominated for the AICPA's National Public Service Award.

MICHIGAN

Gordon Krater has begun his second four-year term as managing partner at Plante Moran PLLC, Southfield. Krater, who is the sixth managing partner in the firm’s history, stepped into the leadership role in July 2009. He will continue to serve until July 2017.

Timothy Kiel was promoted to manager at Bowman & Co. OHIO

Eddie Blaugrund has been promoted to director of SS&G Parkland Consulting. Ilona Aronov has joined the firm as a senior associate in the firm's tax department in the Akron office. Courtney Ockenden joins as a senior associate in the entrepreneurial services group in Cleveland. Ockenden worked as a senior accountant at Zinner & Company LLP before joining SS&G. … Carina Diamond, a managing director at SS&G Wealth Management in Akron, was awarded the Cetera Advisors’ Sapphire Award. … Lesley Keller has joined BCG & Co., Akron, as senior manager in its Tax Services division.

TENNESSEE

Lee Ann Payne has been promoted to a senior in Lattimore Black Morgan & Cain PC's accounting services department in Knoxville. Katie Graham has been promoted to a manager in the firm’s health care consulting division. She was previously a senior in the department.

TEXAS

Jams Simmons has joined Condley & Co. LLP, Abilene, as an audit staff accountant. … Deborah Byers, who has led Ernst & Young's Southwest Transaction Advisory Services practice for three years, has been promoted to managing partner of Ernst & Young's Houston office. Byers succeeds Charles Swanson, who will continue to serve client in Houston.

VIRGINIA

Stephen Carroll of Health Diagnostic Laboratory and a member of the Virginia Society of CPAs won a Virginia CFO award in the Large Private Companies category. Gary Ometer of the Virginia College Savings won in the Small Nonprofit Organizations category. Sara Mooney of the Historic Richmond Foundation was an award finalist in the Small Nonprofit Organization category, and Donna Hollis of Didlake, Inc. was a finalist in the Large Nonprofit Organizations category.  

WASHINGTON

Jennifer Valente has been promoted to an audit and assurance manager at Clark Nuber, Bellevue. Bob Nuber, chairman emeritus at the firm, was chosen by the board of directors of the Washington Society of CPAs to receive the 2012-2013 John L. O'Brien Lifetime Achievement Award. The award was given to Nuber to acknowledge his years of leadership and dedicated service to the profession and as a role model to CPAs. Rhona Kwiram, a shareholder at Clark Nuber, will join the Independent Colleges of Washington Board as a member and serve on the Finance Committee for the 2013-2016 term.

WISCONSIN
