HONG KONG

Matt Sullivan has been named manager at Wolters Kluwer’s Audit, Risk & Compliance’s TeamMate –audit management system in the Asia-Pacific region. Sullivan will assist in TeamMate’s expansion plans throughout the region, creating new business relationships and bringing new products and services to the marketplace.

INDIA

Ganesh Ramkumar has joined EisnerAmper Fund Services LLC as managing director – new markets, a new position at the firm. EFS provide accounting and administration services to hedge funds and private equity funds, including funds of funds, and to family offices. Ramkumar will be headquartered in the firm’s new Bangalore office.

UNITED KINGDOM

The Trustees of the IFRS Foundation appointed three new members of the IFRS Advisory Council. The new Advisory Council members are: Roger Best, former partner of Deloitte Hong Kong, will represent the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants; Daniel McMahon, president and CEO of the Ordre des comptables professionnels agréés du Québec, Canada, will represent the Fédération Internationale des Experts-Comptables Francophones; and Markus Grund, chief accountant at the Federal Financial Supervisory Authority in Germany, will represent the International Association of Insurance Supervisors. The foundation also appointed Gary Kabureck to serve as a member of the IASB for an initial term ending 30 June 2017, renewable for a further three years.  He will join the IASB in April 2013.

ALABAMA

Steven Barranco a member of Warren Averett LLC, Montgomery, has been appointed to the Alabama State Board of Public Accountancy. … Brent Barringer has joined Frost Cummings Tidwell Group, Birmingham, as a partner.

CALIFORNIA

Brad Paul has joined FMV, San Francisco and Irvine, as a managing director in the firm’s real estate division. … Jennifer Cavender has been promoted to senior manager at Haskell & White LLP, Irvine. She will work in the audit and business advisory serviced department at the firm. John McNair has been promoted to senior in the firm’s tax department. … Mark Dauberman has joined the editorial team of Roger CPA Review, San Francisco, as a senior editor. Dauberman will lead Roger CPA Review editorial staff on course textbooks and other course development initiatives.   

COLORADO

Laurie Maciag has joined TaxOps, Lakewood, as a tax manager. 

CONNECTICUT

BlumShapiro, Hartford, announced that Alfred Rosenthal, CPA, a founding partner of the firm, died peacefully in his home surrounded by his loving family and caregivers on Thursday, February 7, 2013. Rosenthal was 92. … Gary Purpura has joined TaxOps as a managing partner at the firm’s new Stamford, Conn., office. … The Financial Accounting Foundation Board of Trustees reappointed Marc Siegel to a second five-year term as a member of the Financial Accounting Standards Board, beginning July 1, 2013.

FLORIDA

Stephen Schickel has been promoted to an accounting manager at Bloomer, Geri & Co., Pensacola. … The National Tax Lien Association will host Richard Powers from the U.S. Department of Justice to conduct antitrust training during its annual conference in Miami from April 3 to April 5, 2013. … Karen Mosteller, a partner with Fort Myers-based Markham Norton Mosteller Wright & Company PA, recently served on a committee to spearhead the creation of an intern database for the Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants. The Internship Opportunity Engine allows FICPA members to promote internship opportunities with a web-based directory to student-members throughout the state. There is no cost for the program.

GEORGIA

Patrick Terry was promoted to an assurance principal at Decosimo, Atlanta. … Bennett Thrasher PC, Atlanta, has made several new hires throughout the firm. Jerry Weil has joined the firm as a shareholder in the firm’s tax practice; Justin Snell joined as a director in the dispute resolution and forensics practice; Karen Dotson joined the firm’s pass-through entities practice as a tax manager and Jan Magill joined as a tax manager in its personal financial services practice.

INDIANA

Katz, Sapper & Miller, Indianapolis, has added a batch of staff accountants to the firm. Jennifer Grady, Eric Raver and David Rottman will work in the business advisory group; Aubrey Hancock and Zack McAdams will work in the firm’s audit and assurance service department; while Amy Stromberg will work in the state and local tax division.

ILLINOIS

Edward Hrunek, a senior accountant at Porte Brown LLC, recently completed a specialized educational program in professional divorce financial analysis and is now a Certified Divorce Financial Analyst. The Institute trains professionals to address financial issues associated with the estimated one million divorces that take place in the US each year. As a CDFA, Hrunek is trained to provide financial information and assistance to people in divorce to include evaluating the tax implications of dividing property and the settlement options for dividing pensions, marital property, and awarding of child and spousal support. Hrunek also has access to specialized software to develop informational reports to better communicate the financial information to the divorcing couples, attorneys, courts and mediators.

KENTUCKY

Thomas Thompson has joined Louis T. Roth & Co., Louisville, as a staff accountant.

MARYLAND

Smith Elliott Kearns & Co. LLC, Hagerstown, made several promotions throughout the firm. Jill Bachtell, Mark Hill, Brooke Murphy and William Souders were promoted from senior associates to supervisors, while Erin Shoop was promoted from staff associate to senior associate. Mandy Walls and Kelley Merris were promoted from support accountant to supervising accountant.

MASSACHUSETTS

Stephen Houlihan has joined the Boston office of CBIZ Tofias, as a director. … Norman LeBlanc is the newest shareholder at KLR.

MICHIGAN

Mike Santicchia, a partner at UHY LLP, was honored with the University of Michigan Club of Greater Detroit Distinguished Alumni Service Award during their annual Michigan Football Bust. ... Austin Beattie has joined CHD CPAs and Advisors, St. Clair Shores, as a staff accountant.

Audrey Sherrick, a partner at Friedman LLP, has been distinguished as one of New Jersey's 2013 "Best 50 Women in Business" by NJBIZ. … Jarrett Bluth and Swami Venkat were promoted to partners at CohnReznick LLP.

Rona Pocker has joined Grant Thornton LLP where she will work in the firm’s National Bank Advisory & Regulatory Services practice. … Rosanne Migliorino and Wienerson Previl have joined the New York office of CBIZ MHM LLC, as director and senior manager respectively. Christoper Clabby joined the firm as a managing director and tax practice leader. … Kevin Dunham has rejoined The Bonadio Group, Williamsville, as a principal for the tax team. Most recently he worked as director of tax for Ion Media Networks in West Palm Beach, Fla. In this role, Dunham was responsible for the overall management of the company’s tax department.
