UNITED KINGDOM

Tony de Bell, Reinhard Dotzlaw and Martin Schloemer have each been appointed to serve three-year terms, renewable once. De Bell is a member of the Global Accounting Consulting Services Leadership Team with PwC in the United Kingdom, Dotzlaw is the Canadian member of KPMG’s Global IFRS Panel and Schloemer is Head of Accounting Principles and Policies at Bayer AG in Germany. All appointments will commence on July 1. 2013.

GEORGIA

Sam Aziz has joined UHY Advisors, Atlanta, as a manager. Prior to UHY, Aziz was an internal audit manager with an automotive supplier. He has served in information technology audit and systems roles with major health care, automotive and distribution companies.

Talyr Guerrero and Matthew Lupo have joined Mathieson, Moyski, Celer & Co. LLP, as staff associates. Brett Mathieson, a manager at the firm, was elected treasurer of the Wheaton Chamber of Commerce and also was honored with the “Top Young Professional of the Year” award by the Wheaton Chamber of Commerce at its annual Gamon Awards. … Beth Brooke, global vice chair of public policy at Ernst & Young, will examine the growing economic power of women at the Women's Leadership Program at the Palmer House Hilton on May 22. 2013. The event will be hosted by The Executives’ Club of Chicago.

Donahue Scholarship. Lisa A. Donahue Scholarship is given in honor of Mrs. Donahue who lost her battle with cancer five years ago and in recognition of her long and dedicated service to the CPA profession.  She was a partner in Bowman & Company LLP at the time of her death.  The scholarship is given in conjunction with the New Jersey Society of Certified Public Accountants.

Matthew Stover has rejoined Ernst & Young LLP, Seattle, as an assurance partner. Stover started his career in Ernst & Young Chicago and Grand Rapids offices, joining the firm’s Seattle office in 2005. He has worked with companies in a variety of industries, including technology, manufacturing, timber and retail. Stover returns to Ernst & Young LLP from eBay Inc., where he spent the last year as the company’s director of accounting. … Maria DeAtley and Jennifer Ross were promoted to seniors in Clark Nuber’s Bellevue office. The firm recently hired Danielle Woolum as an audit associate.

The Internal Revenue Service tapped Joseph Grant to serve as commissioner of the Tax Exempt and Government Entities Division and Sheldon Kay as Chief of Appeals. … Bruce Karpati, chief of enforcement division asset management unit, to leave the Securities and Exchange Commission after 12 years. Deputy Chiefs Julie Riewe and Marshall Sprung will lead the unit until new leadership is named. … The SEC named Keith Higgins as the new director of the agency’s Division of Corporation Finance. The SEC also tapped Lona Nallengara as the agency’s chief of staff.
