UNITED KINGDOM

Barbara Kroll has been appointed as managing director of Wolters Kluwer Tax & Accounting's online accounting service, Twinfield. Kroll will lead the expansion of Twinfield’s operations in the United Kingdom.

ALABAMA

David King, shareholder and firm administrator at Barfield, Murphy, Shank & Smith PC, has been awarded the Accredited Administrator in Accounting Practice Management by the Association for Accounting Administration. Donny Donald senior manager at the firm received Honor Graduate status from Cannon Financial Institute while completing Trust Tax III at the University of Notre Dame.

Brian Harney, a senior manager at the firm was named the 2012 Young Alumnus in Accounting from Troy University.

CALIFORNIA

Dan Prager has rejoined KPMG LLP as a Federal Tax managing director in Los Angeles. …Walter Smiechewicz joined PwC LLP as managing director in the firm's Risk Assurance practice in Los Angeles.

GEORGIA

Lisa Greenman joined TaxConnex as an account executive. Prior to TaxConnex, Greenman worked at Thomson Reuters as an account executive in the sales and use tax division.

ILLINOIS

Cathy Mauer has rejoined KPMG LLP, as a principal in the firm’s International Executive Services practice in Chicago. …Matthew Schell, who works for the audit group at Crowe Horwath LLP, Chicago, has been accepted to the SEC Professional Accounting Fellowship Program. …Evan Klein has joined Michael Silver & Company CPAs, Skokie, as audit senior and Daniel Mulvey joined the firm as staff accountant. Steve Stehman will become a full time member of the tax consulting and compliance team in December. …Walter Knepper, a recently retired partner at RubinBrown has been named to Southern Illinois University Edwardsville School of Business 2012 Class of the Alumni Hall of Fame.

INDIANA

Blue & Co. LLC made several new hires throughout the firm. Angela Crawford joined as manager; Christopher Reid and Beverly Shuler as accounting specialists; Zachary Smith, Colin Vaal, Mackenzie Bullock, Justin Watkins and Alexis Shonkwiler as a staff accountants; Kari Storey as a payroll specialist and Debra Watts as a bookkeeper.

MASSACHUSETTS

Derrick Rebello joined Gray, Gray & Gray, Westwood, as director of accounting and auditing services. Prior to Gray, Gray & Gray, Rebello was a partner at McGladrey LLP, where he worked for seven years.

MISSOURI

Larry Newell, Abby Heisserer and Maaria Seider of Brown Smith Wallace, St. Louis, have earned the Qualified Security Assessor certification from the Payment Card Industry Security Standards Council. 

NEW YORK

Gregory C. Swinehart, of Deloitte Financial Advisory Services LLP, New York, has named national leader of its newly formed analytics service area. He previously served as national leader of the forensic service area for Deloitte FAS. …Joe Vanderburgh has joined The Bonadio Group, Rochester, as an assistant in the firm's tax group. Prior to The Bonadio Group, Vanderburgh worked as a staff accountant with Generations Child and Elder Care. Mary Murphy joined the firm's small business advisory team as a manager. Prior to joining The Bonadio Group, Murphy worked as a manager for the tax department with EFP Rotenberg LLP. …KPMG LLP, New York, has bolstered its Corporate Finance team with the new hires of Chris Mercier, Maureen Spivack, Mihir Jobalia, JP Ditty, Shez Bandukwala, Scott Rawlins, Nick Greenwood, Jon Mehlman and Imran Ahmed as managing directors. Jim Ray joined as partner.

NORTH CAROLINA

Thiru Govender and Erin Liu joined Elliot Davis PLLC, Charlotte, in the firm's International Services practice. Govender will came on board as a shareholder while Liu joined as a senior accountant.

Mike Benz has joined Ciuni & Panichi Inc., Cleveland, as an executive advisor. The firm also made several promotions including, Reggie Novak to senior manager; Amanda Kollman, Jerad Locktish and Daniel Reilly to managers; and Kristen Francis to senior accountant.

TEXAS

Veronica Harman has joined Karlins, Ramey & Tompkins LLC, The Woodlands, as staff accountant.

VIRGINIA

Tom Cryan recently joined WTAS LLC,McLean, as managing director in the firm's National Tax Office.

WASHINGTON

Clark Nuber CPA, Bellevue, recently hired David Alfi, Garrett Cummins, Meredith Matches and Mariah Wine as audit associates and Lisa Boyd as a tax associate.

WASHINGTON D.C.

Tate & Tryon made several new hires throughout the firm. Matt Vivona joined as a staff tax accountant in the firm's exempt organization tax practice, while Danny Birmingham, Erica Mesko, Dan Martin, Megan Hoffman and Sarah Eldredge joined as staff auditors.

WISCONSIN

Terry Hoover joins Wipfli LLP, Milwaukee, as a director. Prior to joining Wipfli, Hoover worked as a director in the Valuation and Litigation Support Practice of Baker Tilly Virchow Krause.
