ACCA and IMA Call for Accounting Research Proposals

The Institute of Management Accountants and the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants have issued a joint call for research proposals from accounting academics and practitioners.

The announcement was made during the American Accounting Association’s Annual Meeting this week in Washington, D.C.

“As the latest initiative of our strategic partnership with ACCA, we hope to award multiple research projects with the objective of advancing thought leadership and best practices in the management accounting profession,” said IMA vice president of research Raef Lawson, who made the announcement.

The IMA and ACCA are especially looking for research proposals in the areas of enterprise risk management, technology enablement and business performance management, though proposals addressing other relevant management accounting topics may also be considered.

“This joint call for research supports both ACCA’s and IMA’s aim to lead and shape the agenda of the accountancy profession,” said ACCA director of policy Ewan Willars in a statement. “We’re pleased to partner with IMA on this important initiative, and look forward to receiving proposals.”

The deadline for submissions is Jan. 31, 2013. Up to $100,000 will be awarded to grant recipients. For submission guidelines, visit www.imanet.org/researchfoundation.
