ACCA releases first 2017 exam results

The ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) announced on Thursday the pass rates of their March 2017 exam sitting, the first of four sessions this year.

Over 90,000 students sat to take the exam around the world, with 113,310 exams taken in all. 3,864 students ultimately completed their final exams for certification. 2017 marks the second year of the Association offering four exams per year, in conjunction with CBEs (computer based exams).

"We are pleased with our latest exam results, which are comparable to the results in March 2016," said Alan Hatfield, executive director strategy and development at ACCA, per a statement. "With the continued success of the CBE rollout and the four exam sessions introduced last year, we have created more opportunities for students to sit the exams, and they have made tremendous strides. We look forward to even more learning providers offering teaching and support towards the remaining three exam sessions for this year."

Concerning the March exam's "Knowledge" testing, 83% of students passed the Accountant in Business (F1) qualification, with 64% and 70% passing the Management Accounting (F2) and Financial Accounting (F3), respectively.

"The new developments to the exam environment and learning support have enabled students to benefit from increased flexibility to manage their studies proactively and achieve success," added Hatfield. "Coupled with their own dedication to pass and succeed, these exams create more effective accountants in the workplace."
