CALIFORNIA

Intacct, a cloud financial management and accounting software, was honored with a Glassdoor Employees' Choice Award, recognizing the Best Places to Work in 2015. Intacct's rating was the highest for a software company of any size and the company ranked fourth overall in the small to medium-sized business category – those companies with fewer than 1000 employees.

MARYLAND

The financial services and wealth management firm, Glass Jacobson, was named one of the Top Workplaces in Maryland by The Baltimore Sun. Two awards were given to the firm, both in the Small Employer category (50-149 employees): Top Honors for “Top Workplace For New Ideas” and Fifth Place for “Top Workplace” out of 65 businesses. The announced that it will relocate its office to a larger space in January 2015 to 800 King Farm Boulevard, in Rockville.

MICHIGAN

Over the holiday weekend, UHY LLP sponsored the Distinguished Clown Corps float in the 88th America’s Thanksgiving Parade. The Parade is Detroit’s grandest and most anticipated civic event, the second largest Thanksgiving parade and the third largest parade in the country overall. First televised in 1948, The Parade is now broadcast nationally to more than 65 million viewers.

NEVADA

Founding partners of Johnson Jacobson Wilcox - Kirk Jacobson and Chris Wilcox announced they are forming their own firm, JW Advisors on Jan. 1, 2015. They will be joined by more than half of the current JJW team members. Together, the partners said they will offer all of the same high-quality professional services and more. Through the rest of 2014, Jacobson, Wilcox and their team will continue serving clients as part of JJW. Starting Jan. 1, they will work with existing and new clients as JW Advisors.

KPMG Capital, whose first investment fund was created to accelerate innovation in data and analytics, today announced it has taken a substantial equity stake in Bottlenose Inc., a Los Angeles-based real-time trend intelligence company. The Bottlenose cloud-based trend intelligence solution analyzes real-time streaming data that enables enterprises to identify, anticipate and monitor the trends that drive their businesses. … WeiserMazars together with Mazars Group, The Economist Intelligence Unit and an international alliance of governments and businesses, is launching a global human rights survey. The centerpiece of this initiative will be worldwide research conducted by the EIU to build an in-depth picture of businesses’ awareness of, commitment to and progress in improving human rights. TEXAS

Weaver has released the Weaver Compliance Navigator app. The app, available free of charge, features a searchable directory of fuels regulations governed by the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). It can be easily accessed and downloaded from the Weaver website at www.weaver.com/app.

WASHINGTON D.C.

According to a research commission by CPA.com, Nearly four out of five CPAs in public accounting believe they will play a key role in preparing clients for complex challenges in the coming decade, but recognize they must understand and embrace emerging innovations to do so. The survey for the CPA of the Future Study was conducted from Sept. 15 to Nov. 17, 2014, and included responses from more than 400 representatives of CPA firms in the United States.
