CONNECTICUT

CohnReznick LLP is leasing approximately 50,000 square feet of space on the 11th and 12th floors of downtown Hartford’s Metro Center building. The move will relocate CohnReznick’s existing Glastonbury and Farmington, Conn. offices to the Hartford space which underwent a floor-to-ceiling renovation customized for the needs of the Firm.

DENMARK

HLB Beierholm, HLB International’s member in Denmark, was elected last week Denmark’s Best Place to Work on the occasion of the 14th edition of the Great Place to Work Awards. The accounting firm, which counts 650 staff in 19 offices throughout Denmark, won the first place among companies over 500 employees, receiving the prize from the Danish Prime Minister in a ceremony held in Copenhagen. Over 25,000 employees from 125 companies took part in the Awards this year.

The American Institute of CPAs has broadened its relationship with Instituto Nacional de Contadores Públicos, Colombia’s largest member organization representing public accountants, as the South American nation prepares for its move toward a single set of high quality international accounting standards. Globalization has created new challenges and opportunities for business, and knowledge of internationally recognized standards has become a key competency for accountants. Like many nations, Colombia has made a commitment to converge its accounting regulations with International Financial Reporting Standards, a set of standards mandated for use in more than 100 countries. Public companies in Colombia will be required to use IFRS next year, while most small- and medium-sized businesses must adopt the standards by 2016. … TGS Global Accountancy Network held its third annual conference on Nov. 13 and 14, 2014, where Gettry Marcus served as the host to 40 delegates representing 20 accounting firms from over 17 countries.
