EUROPE

Baker Tilly International member firm, Baker Tilly in Cyprus, strengthens their coverage within the south-east Europe region by adding three new member firms to their network. The newly established firm, VNT Auditing SA, created by the majority of departing members of Baker Tilly Hellas, became a member firm of Baker Tilly International along with Accounting Solutions SA and Audit Services SA. All firms will operate under the umbrella of the newly established Baker Tilly Greece network effective immediately.

FLORIDA

Yip Associates is expanding its forensic accounting, expert witness and consulting firm to Boca Raton. The Miami-based firm signed a 2,300-square-foot lease at 1001 Yamato Road and has hired six employees there. It hired Hylton Wynick and Robert Bueso as partners for that location, in addition to Leslie Herz and Kit Becker as directors, Miranda Kirsch as office manager and Susan Tai as associate.

ILLINOIS

According to a new study by BDO USA LLP almost four-fifths, or 79 percent, of public company board members believe the increased use of corporate tax inversions is an expected outcome given the U.S. high corporate tax rate and a majority (56 percent) are in favor of Congress addressing the issue through legislation. Of those in favor of legislative action, the vast majority (85 percent) believe any remedy must be part of broad-based tax reform on both the corporate and personal level. Directors were evenly divided (40 percent for, 40 percent against, 20 percent unsure) when asked if they were in favor of replacing the corporate and personal income tax with a tax on consumption
