JAMAICA

Jamaican accounting practitioners Oliver Campbell and Leroy Adams have merged their operations. The firms have taken on the name Campbell Adams and Company. The two will work to provide stability to the organization’s internal operations while exploring short- and long-term expansionary plans. “In the accounting business, it’s becoming increasingly difficult for sole practitioners to function in Jamaica,” Campbell said to the Jamaica Observer. “Included among the reasons are the international financial reporting standards and the international auditing standards.” Based in Kingston, Campbell Adams and Company offers auditing and budget reports, financial projections, corporate secretarial services and more. Following the January merger, the company acquired another accounting firm, GE Thomas and Co. in the Mandeville section of Jamaica, along with corporate secretarial services firm Company Consultants Limited.

Deloitte and the XPRIZE Foundation have formed a new multi-year strategic alliance and launched a new fellowship program. Through the fellowship program, Deloitte will commit a team of full-time professionals on a pro bono basis to work with XPRIZE. Fellows will support XPRIZE in its mission to drive radical breakthroughs for the benefit of humanity thereby inspiring the formation of new industries and the revitalization of markets, and will collaborate with XPRIZE to develop new models for stimulating increased corporate social responsibility. The fellowship team will act as an ‘innovation catalyst” for XPRIZE to help drive the design, experimentation, incubation, and rollout of new concepts, methods, and models of crowd-sourced incentivized prize competitions.. … The 2014 Global Pulse of the Profession report, which was released at the 73rd Institute of Internal Auditors International Conference in London, is a call to action for internal audit to add value to its stakeholders. The Pulse reviewed four industry surveys from the first half of 2014, and the results show an alarming gap in stakeholder expectations with internal audit. The Pulse report offers five key strategies to narrow that expectation gap and position the profession to be a trusted advisor to management, audit committees and boards of directors. The 2014 The Pulse of the Profession identifies strategies for advancing internal audit in a report titled “Enhancing Value Through Collaboration: A Call to Action.” 

MINNESOTA

HLB Tautges Redpath Ltd. has officially changed its name to Redpath and Company. The newly branded firm will open a second office in downtown St. Paul on September 1, where approximately 45 of Redpath and Company’s 125 employees will relocate. The firm also said that Mark Gibbs, partner and client manager, will transition into the role of managing partner, which is currently being performed by Jim Redpath, who will become full-time partner and client manager.

CBIZ Inc. was recognized at the CPA & ESQ Awards Program, with one of its executives receiving an award and the firm and some employees being named a finalist in several categories. The firm was also named Accounting Firm of the Year by the Association for Corporate Growth New York Chapter. … Ernst & Young LLP was recognized as a leader in the IDC MarketScape: Americas Business Consulting Services 2014 Vendor Assessment. According to IDC, the firm is seen as most capable of all firms at integrating appropriate analytics into an engagement and at maximizing the value of a project. … CBIZ MHM hosted the inaugural Private Equity Golf Tournament at the Baltusrol Golf Club.
