Key Findings from the Survey include: 77 percent of the executives surveyed reported that their revenues are expected to be higher in 2014 than they were in 2013. 53 percent of industry executives surveyed expect their 2014 gross margin percentage will remain the same or decrease from 2013. Well over half of the executives believe that the overall construction market will be better in 2014 than it was in 2013. 91 percent of the respondents reported that none of the work they perform is international. 24 percent of union contractors are considering migrating towards non-union work. Expansion of business offerings and expansion of geographical reach were identified by a number of executives to be primary business strategies that will be a focus in 2014. Additional focus areas include the implementation of Lean Construction Principles as well as acquisitions. … Accounting and advisory firm Berdon LLP came up with a way to include its team members in the office’s recent renovation. In a program titled “Art Give and Get,” team members were invited to submit electronically their favorite photographs from the Greater New York City area. Hundreds of photos were submitted by team members at all levels — from administrators to partners — which were then reviewed and selected by an outside professional.  … Bowers & Co. is expanding in the North Country. The firm is building a new 7,800-square-foot office building in Watertown, New York to house its growing staff in that market. …  KPMG LLP was named the "Best Company for Asian Pacific Americans to Develop Workforce Skills"

POLAND

GetSix Group joins the global accountancy network of HLB International. The firm has 70 staff members located in Poznan, Wroclaw and Warsaw, Poland. Established in 2006, the group provides accounting, business advisory, payroll, consulting and IT services. GetSix has special expertise in the construction, automotive, real estate funds, logistic, transport and retail industries, and offers professional services in German as well as Polish and English.

SPAIN

TMH Eduardo Molina &  Asociados/Molina Asesores joins the global accountancy network of HLB International. The firm has 60 staff members in Marbella and Malaga, Spain. Established in 1991, the firm provides tax advisory services to international clients on the Spanish market, with a focus on German clients, and to Spanish investors on the German market. Partners are trained in Spain and in Germany.

UTAH

Western Governors University has launched a new business master’s degree program, the Master of Science, Accounting. This new program, also referred to as the Master of Accounting, provides students with the knowledge and skills they need for a successful career in accounting or auditing. Applications are being accepted now, and after completing the admissions and enrollment process, students may begin coursework on the first day of any month, beginning July 1.
