ARIZONA

REDW LLC will host the 2014 Tribal Finance and Leadership Conference in Chandler, AZ. The annual event, now in its 5th consecutive year, is organized by REDW and is exclusively designed for tribal leaders. More than 100 Tribal Council Members, Tribal Finance and HR Leaders, Compliance and Investment Officers, Tribal Attorneys, and other tribal professionals in tribal leadership roles are expected to attend the conference on November 5-6. This year’s event will occur at Wild Horse Pass Hotel & Casino.

CALIFORNIA

Piascik has opened an office in Beverly Hills, Calif., giving the firm better access to West Coast clients, in particular high net-worth professional athletes and California firms doing business in overseas markets. ILLINOIS

Nine out of 10 executives at small and mid-size manufacturing and distribution companies expect solid growth over the next 12 months and two-thirds plan to add jobs during that period, according to the 2014 McGladrey Manufacturing and Distribution Monitor. The survey, which was conducted by McGladrey LLP, the leading provider of assurance, tax and consulting services focused on the middle market, includes responses from more than 900 executives at small and mid-size U.S. manufacturers and distributors, and provides an annual update on the state of middle-market companies in the industrial sector. … According to a new study by BDO USA LLP capital markets executives at leading investment banks are closely divided when asked to forecast the market for initial public offerings in the U.S. during the remainder of 2014. More than one-third anticipates the pace of U.S. IPO activity will increase further in the second half of 2014; while similar proportions believe activity will be flat with the first half of the year. Just over a quarter of the bankers are predicting a decrease in deals. Overall, capital market executives are predicting a one percent increase in the number of U.S. IPOs during the second half of the year.

NORTH DAKOTA

Eide Bailly LLP announced it is now accepting submissions for its 2014 Non-Profit Resourcefullness Awards, which will recognize outstanding non-profit revenue generation efforts in Arizona, Colorado, Minnesota and Utah. The firm will give the following in each of the four states: a $10,000 grand prize, a $3,000 runner-up prize, and a $2,000 honorable mention prize.

Ohio Society of CPAs has been recognized for advancing diversity in the accounting profession. The organization has picked up the 2014 Power of A Silver Award from the American Society of Association Executives. That diligence paid off as ACAP-Ohio was recently awarded a Power of A Silver Award from the American Society of Association Executives.

PENNSYLVANIA

WASHINGTON, D.C.

The Center for Audit Quality and the Auditing Section of the American Accounting Association announced four awards as a part of an innovative program designed to facilitate accounting and auditing academics’ ability to obtain access to audit firm personnel to participate in their research projects. The CAQ and the AAA Auditing Section established the Access to Audit Personnel program in 2013 to generate research on issues that are relevant to audit practice while providing doctoral students and tenure-track professors with access to audit firm staff to complete data collection protocols.
