The Annual BlumShapiro Golf Classic will take place on Monday, July 28 at the New Haven Country Club. The BlumShapiro Golf Classic tournament, reception and raffle benefits the GNHCC Scholarship Fund for New Haven-area students interested in pursuing college degrees in business. To date, the fund has raised more than $48,000 to support undergraduate students.

ILLINOIS

NEW MEXICO

KPMG has pledged support for New Mexico State University’s effort to honor an admired accounting professor with an endowed chair in his name. Partners and employees of KPMG have announced plans to contribute a total of $75,000 to the Lionel Haight Accounting Professorship to help reach the goal of turning the professorship into a $1 million endowed chair. The professorship in honor of Haight, a former NMSU professor and head of the accounting department, who died in 1998, was established in 2010 with a $250,000 contribution from one of Haight’s former students, Judy Gray Johnson, and her husband, Michael. Judy Johnson attended NMSU from 1969 to 1972, majoring in accounting, and found Haight to be a demanding but supportive teacher who had a significant impact on students

PwC US has committed to its future in the Greater Buffalo area by signing a 10-year lease in the Larkin at Exchange building, located at 726 Exchange Street. Buffalo-based PwC professionals will make their move into the new facility in late July. … Grassi & Co. was recognized as one of the best companies to work for by the New York State Society for Human Resource Management and Best Companies Group. … According to a new global report by EY, Bridging the Divide, 90 percent of companies headquartered in the United States expect already heightened tax risks to accelerate in the next two years, compared to 81 percent of companies globally who anticipate increased risk. The report also found that companies view the potential lack of coordination by national governments around the Organization for Economic Cooperation & Development’s Base Erosion and Profit Shifting project as one major new risk. The EY survey of 830 tax and finance executives (including 120 chief financial officers) in 25 countries has tracked tax risk for 10 years, and now offers the first quantifiable global sample of how companies around the world view the OECD BEPS project and other types of tax risks companies are currently facing. … Adaptive Professional Solutions, which is an online marketplace for temporary accounting and finance staffing, has launched. TENNESSEE

Lattimore Black Morgan & Cain and the LBMC Family of Companies have signed a letter of intent with H.G. Hill Realty Company to construct the company's new headquarters in the redeveloped Hill Center Brentwood. Pending necessary approvals by the City of Brentwood, LBMC will be the anchor office tenant for the combined properties that include the former Murray Ohio and Tennessee Baptist Convention headquarters sites.
