FASB Plans Roundtables on Nonprofit Accounting Changes

The Financial Accounting Standards Board plans to host roundtable meetings to discuss its recent proposed changes in accounting for not-for-profit organizations and health care entities.

The purpose of the roundtables is to provide an opportunity for those who have submitted a comment letter to discuss the proposals with Board members in greater detail. To ensure that a variety of perspectives is received, FASB said it currently is seeking participation from preparers, auditors, investors and others.

The first roundtable will take place at FASB’s headquarters in Norwalk, Conn., on Sept. 21. The second roundtable will occur at the University of Southern California’s Davidson Conference Center in Los Angeles on Oct. 6. The audio of the first roundtable will be webcast live, while an audio recording of the second meeting will be posted online a few days after the meeting.

Those interested in participating in one of the roundtables should register online here by Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2015. Nonparticipating observers also should register here in advance. Seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis.
