Becker awards over $450K in scholarship funds

Becker Professional Education announced on Tuesday the annual recipients of their Newton D. Becker Scholarship Program, providing over $450,000 to more than 240 CPA candidates in full or partial scholarships.

“We are truly honored to provide nearly a half million in scholarship funds this year to candidates pursuing their CPA credential, as we know it will positively impact their careers and help to further establish them as leaders in their field,” stated Steve Gradman, vice president and general manager of U.S. Accounting at Becker.

The program was founded in honor of the memory of Newton D. Becker, hoping to continue his legacy of helping promising students and professionals earn CPA licensure to better their careers. Newton originally started Becker Professional Education in 1957 to help prepare candidates for the Exam.

“Becoming a CPA is unprecedented in my family and through this scholarship I will be able to accomplish my CPA certification within a year and begin moving up to supervisor and management positions at my current employer,” said Amanda Fisher, a 2017 Becker scholarship recipient, per a statement.

Successful scholarship applicants must have met the requirements to sit for the CPA Exam at the time of enrollment, be in financial assistance, and write a piece exhibiting their similarities to the treasured characteristics of Newton Becker, including leadership skills and philanthropic efforts.
