CBIZ Inc. has signed a definitive agreement to acquire the non-attest business of Tampa Bay, Fla.-based Lewis, Birch & Ricardo LLC.
LBR was formed in 1990 as a professional tax, accounting and consulting service provider. The firm specializes in matrimonial and family law litigation support, not-for-profit entities and health care provider services.
"We've known the local CBIZ professionals for the past twenty years and have had a great relationship with them,” LBR’s Mike Lewis said in a statement. “We now look forward to working together as a team. It's also exciting to join the sixth-largest local accounting service provider, not to mention one of the nation's leading providers."
The acquisition, which closed on February 1, is expected to add 58 employees and approximately $9.8 million to CBIZ's annualized revenue.
"This deal strengthens CBIZ's foothold in the Tampa market and rounds out their service offering,” said Allan Koltin, CEO of Koltin Consulting Group, who advised both firms on the deal. “The combined office will be over $20 million in revenues and will be even deeper in audit, tax, and special advisory services, such as litigation support."
