By Michael Cohn

CCH has published a special report comparing the tax policies and proposals of President Barack Obama with his Republican rival Mitt Romney.

The new report, Special Tax Briefing: 2012 Tax Policies of the Major Presidential Candidates, analyzes the potential impact of their tax positions both for the immediate future and for 2014 and beyond.

“The uncertainties facing taxpayers in 2013 are almost unprecedented in scope,” said CCH principal federal tax analyst Mark Luscombe in a statement. “With a combination of potential major events, including what many refer to as ‘taxmageddon’ and the ‘fiscal cliff,’ and the scheduled sunsetting of Bush-era tax cuts on December 31, 2012, the winner of the November presidential election and his tax policy will have a significant impact on all taxpayers across the country.”

Additional special briefings on significant tax developments are available at www.CCHGroup.com/Legislation.

Let me get this straight, The Dems control the Senate. They refuse to bring bills to the floor for a vote, and blame the House and the Republican Seantors for grid lock. Before you yell foul, bring a bill to the floor first. Hey why not propose a budget? Wait, the Senate never did, even when it controled both House & Senate. Say high to your Masters at the DNC for me will you. Some independent!

Mark, I understand the need to sell newspapers, but really "...the winner of the November presidential election and his tax policy will have a significant impact..." Do you work for the FOX fair and balanced news station?

Take this to the bank. The winner will have little or no impact at all on anything that matters in this country. It will continue to be no business as usual. Unless there is a landslide for one side or the other. A landslide must in include slam-dunk super majorities in both the House and the Senate. Anything less than at least 60 in the Senate pretty much guarantees nothing passes that matters. Oh, there will be some screaming and yelling, and all kinds of posturing, but in the end, nothing, nada, zip, except for perhaps the kicking of the can down the road.

Ever since the minority "leader" in the Senate made his announcement almost four years ago, we were destined for gridlock. Instead of someone in his party taking him out behind the woodshed, they rolled over and played dead, where they remain. Let's just say the GOP wins 58 Senate seats. That fool has now shown the world how the game is played. Watch for payback. It is hell, Mitch you devil. May you enjoy the fruits of your lack of labor.

As an independent, I continue to be completely disgusted at the overall behavior in our Congress, something we should be proud of , but not.

I will read the CCH analysis and pray it's written by independent thinkers without an ax to grind on the outcome of their analysis; but in the end, it's not going to matter. But if it is well written, perhaps I will be able to yell at the TV for the FOX fanatics and the liberals dotting the screen on MSNBC as well.
