CRI Merges with Gainer Donnelly

Top 30 CPA firm Carr, Riggs & Ingram has merged Gainer Donnelly, expanding their geographic reach with the local Houston CPA firm, one of Accounting Today’s 2013 Regional Leaders for the southwest.

“CRI extends a warm welcome to the Gainer Donnelly team, and we are excited to add their impressive depth of industry expertise to ours in areas including construction, healthcare, manufacturing, and not-for-profits as we now work together in the Houston area,” said William H. Carr, chairman and managing partner of CRI, in a statement. “This merger delivers an integral component to CRI’s overall strategy as we expand our presence in Texas.”

CRI, which was No. 28 on Accounting Today’s 2013 Top 100 Firms list with $111.33 million in revenue, now has more than 1,000 employees in office locations throughout Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, Tennessee and Texas. Gainer Donnelly is the fourth firm CRI has merged in 2013.

"For CRI, this puts them into Houston in a very big way,” said Allan D. Koltin, CEO of Koltin Consulting Group, who advised both firms on the merger. “They interviewed quite a few firms and felt far and away, Gainer Donnelly was the best fit in terms of talent and opportunity to grow.

"Gainer Donnelly is a very high performing firm that had been approached by a lot of firms (both in Texas and outside of Texas) and loved CRI's vision, philosophy, and culture," he added. "I wouldn't be surprised to see Gainer Donnelly (with the CR&I resources) grow from $20 to $40 million in revenues in the next couple of years."
