Crowe expands in San Francisco

Top 100 Firm Crowe Horwath LLP has agreed to combine with San Francisco-based Rowbotham International, effective Oct. 30.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, but Rowbotham’s four partners and 20 professionals will join Crowe.

Rowbotham was established in 1991, and provides domestic and international tax and audit compliance services, as well as advisory services, with particular industry experience in information technology, software, biotechnology, real estate, distribution, hotel and leisure services, media, financial services and entertainment. Its clients include startup companies, as well as domestic and international investment funds. Private clients include global families, executives and entrepreneurs.

“Crowe is making a major commitment to expanding its California presence and was fortunate to find one of the top tax boutiques in the country in Rowbotham,” said Allan Koltin, CEO of Koltin Consulting Group, who, along with Chris Frederiksen, advised both firms on the deal. “Rowbotham was approached by approximately a half dozen national and mega-regional firms and in the end selected Crowe for its great culture, leadership, innovation, and global network.”

“Rowbotham’s focus on international markets is a great fit for our continued expansion as a global firm,” said Crowe CEO Jim Powers in a statement. “Crowe’s brand promise is to help our clients and our people make smart decisions to create lasting value. With the global market continuing to grow, this is definitely a smart decision that we believe will build lasting value for the future.”

Brian Rowbotham, managing partner and founder of Rowbotham added, “Our values line up well with Crowe’s, as do our business practices. We’re looking forward to joining Crowe, as it will provide numerous opportunities for our clients and our people.”

“Brian Rowbotham is recognized as one of the top tax advisors internationally and he and his team will be a great fit for Crowe,” Koltin added. “Crowe continues to be one of the most admired firms in the country and I expect to see other top local and regional firms aligning with Crowe in the future.”
