DMJ & Co. raises $14K for Special Olympics

North Carolina accounting firm DMJ & Co. participated in the local Triad Chill Polar Plunge in Greensboro on Saturday, helping to raise $14,000 for the Special Olympics.

Of the event's 500 team and individual participants, DMJ staff members Drew Haddock, Jason King, Ginger Quick, David Mize, Quinton Simones and Brian Chandler took a plunge into the 50-degree waters at Wet n’ Wild Emerald Pointe after the firm raised $14,000 for the charity. DMJ was recognized as raising the most money for a group at the event, which raised over $45,000 in all.

DMJ director of marketing Caren Rodriguez and managing partner Mike Gillis also presented the Special Olympics with a symbolic check marking the more than $150,000 the firm has raised for the group since the original Polar Plunge in 2000.

“Being part of this event is both pride and passion for DMJ," stated Caren Rodriguez. "More than 150 individuals, clients, and community members have generously donated to Team DMJ’s fundraising efforts, many of whom graciously share personal stories of how Special Olympics has made a personal impact to their lives. Their support, and the enthusiasm of our firm for the cause, is a credit to our ongoing commitment to Special Olympics. “
